Sahid was born and raised in Freetown, Sierra Leone’s capital.

Self-determination and focus describe the journey Sahid traveled through while finding his way to the Academy. Sahid was in the initial trial for the academy but to his disappointment was cut at the regional level. Sahid went home but continued to work hard in school and soccer, telling himself that he would find his way back to the Academy.

His hard work paid off, and in January 2011, while playing in a match against the Academy, Sahid proved just what they were missing. The coaching staff having not previously seen Sahid play was impressed with his qualities as a striker, and dually offered him a scholarship.

Sahid is taking full advantage of being here, knowing more than the other boys what it’s like to be on the outside looking in, wishing and dreaming. Those dreams and wishes are now possibilities and Sahid is making sure that he turns them into a reality.
